It has been a nightmare trying to remove the rear wheel to replace tire. Starting this thread to learn from experiences by members here.

mcoffey's post on Slickdeals I got my rear tire that was flat out of the box replaced with a solid tire today. It was miserable work but at least I know what to do now. I had to boil the old tire to get it off the hub, then boil the new one to put it on, and use two 24" tire levers to get it to stretch far enough. It may be possible to do the job without scratching the rims but I couldn't figure out how. I took the scooter out for a spin around the Stanford campus this evening and it was incredibly fun. Rode it around for about an hour, and a few people asked me about it and said they wanted one. And, as a helpful bonus, the route goes right past the hospital! liongvm's Question Awesome. How long approximately did it take u to just put the new tire ? mcoffey's response on Slickdeals Once I knew what to do, about 20 minutes to boil the tire, and another ten using "brute force and ignorance" to get it on the hub. After I gave up all hope of not scratching the paint things went much faster. I put one side of the tire cleanly on the hub, then stood on top of the whole assembly and used the levers to stretch the opposite side of the tire out far enough to snap it over the other rim. No matter what you read or watch, you won't really believe how difficult it is until you try it. I'd say I had a good 2-3 hours of swearing invested before that though.
